1. Start Here — Download the 3 Templates

Paste each into its own Google Sheet (File → Import → Replace current sheet), keep the header row, then share it as "Anyone with the link – Viewer". Paste the 3 links in Section 3 and everything below fills itself in — including the Attendance sheet your biometric/manual marking system already writes to, if it can export to this same column layout.

📇 Employee Master

One row per employee — KYC & statutory IDs (PF, ESI, UAN, Aadhar, DOJ, category). Feeds every register in the portal, not just payroll.

💰 Salary Structure

One row per employee — Basic+DA, HRA, Other Allowances, and any fixed monthly advance recovery.

🗓️ Daily Attendance

One row per employee per day — Status (P/A/HD) and OT hours. This is the sheet your auto-marking system should append to daily.

📆 Month tabs

The two sheets the portal itself files — Attendance_YYYY-MM (muster roll, day marks and all) and Payroll_YYYY-MM. Same columns going in as coming out, so an upload and a read-back are the same sheet.

One workbook, a tab per template, with a Read me tab. Every header here is a header the portal reads back by name — a column gets appended, never renamed.

2. Establishment & State

Pick your state to load its minimum wage reference — every salary structure and payroll run below is checked against it.
Minimum wage figures shown here are illustrative reference values — always confirm the current notified rate on the Live Rates page before relying on them.

3. Connect Your Google Sheets

Paste the shareable link (or just the Sheet ID) for each template above. Sync pulls Employee Master + Salary Structure into Section 4 below, and Attendance into a live day-by-day feed — so nobody has to type the same headcount into three places.

4. Employee Salary Structure

Auto-filled once you sync Sections 1–3 above; add or correct anyone by hand here. We flag anyone whose Basic falls below their state's minimum wage, or whose Basic+DA is under the Code on Wages Section 2(y) 50%-of-total-remuneration floor.

5. Monthly Attendance & Run Payroll

Auto-filled from your synced Attendance Sheet for the selected month; edit any cell by hand if needed. Overtime wages are twice the ordinary rate (s.14, Code on Wages) — always, and that is not a setting.

7. Your Workbook — One File, A Tab Per Month

Payroll data is sensitive — we don't want to hold it either. Every run files itself as its own tab (Payroll_2026-06) in one Google Sheet in your own Drive, with the month's attendance beside it. Next month adds tabs; it never overwrites this one. Closing a month locks it, so a filed wage register cannot be quietly restated — and any past month reads straight back for a wage slip, the annual return or an inspector who names a month.
The older per-run sync (kept for accounts already using it)
This writes the run to a sheet created for your Gmail address by our own script. The workbook above supersedes it: that sheet is yours, the tabs are named the same way every month, and nothing passes through us.
